It is a nutritional lifestyle based on the diet of hunters and gatherers—kind of like a modern twist on what our ancestors ate during prehistoric times. The diet helps you stay lean, strong, and energetic.

The Paleo diet has many benefits that its followers gravitate towards. For example, you are more likely to eat a diet that is clean and without any preservatives, additives, or chemicals.

This diet also contributes to anti-inflammatory benefits from the nutrients you'll be eating in the form of natural fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and oils. Users also claim that because of this diet, they see an improved feeling of fullness between their meals, which is a direct correlation from the higher intake of protein and fats they are receiving. In terms of weight loss, because there are so few food options to eat, and because it eliminates a majority of the bad ones, Paleo users can notice a significant improvement in their weight loss goals.


Paleo Foods: What's Approved

Essentially, food like meats, fish, nuts, seeds and fresh fruit + veggies are what you’ll be consuming.

Unlike most diets that count calories, the Paleo diet focuses instead on just eating naturally right.


Paleo Diet: What to Avoid

Now that you know what foods to eat, here is a list of some foods that are not allowed on the Paleo diet:

  • Dairy
  • Artificial sweeteners, including soft drinks and energy drinks
  • Cereal and oatmeal
  • Grains like bread, pasta, wheat, corn
  • Beans and legumes
  • Alcohol
  • Large predatory fish
